Default Trial Information

I thought it would be helpful for people looking for trial information, if we had a thread containing an account of trials that we are on or have finished. You can just list the trial you are on or add a link to the trial on www.clinicaltrials.gov or go into detail, as you like. It will be easy for a newby or someone looking for trial info to see who has experience with a particular trial and pm them or read their threads even if they are an infrequent poster. I'll put a link to the thread in the welcome wagon if it generates information.

I was in a trial using BEXXAR prior to SCT. The other arm of the trial used Rituxan with SCT. The title of the trial is Comparison of Rituxan Versus Bexxar When Combined With Carmustine, Etoposide, Cytarabine and Melphalan (BEAM) With Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (ASCT) (BMT CTN 0401). This study is designed as a Phase III, multicenter trial, comparing progression-free survival (PFS) after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation using a standard Rituxan plus BEAM transplant regimen versus a regimen adding Bexxar to BEAM. Here is a link to the trial. I am about 18 months out from my SCT.

Great idea Nancy!

I'm in a clinical trial comparing two methods of administering Rituxan. The trial number is E4402. Here is a link to the explanation of the trial: Rituxan Trial

The official title of the study is "Rituximab in Treating Patients With Low Tumor Burden Indolent Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma". It's a phase III trial. Here is more info on what they are comparing:

Quote:
Purpose
RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known which rituximab regimen is more effective in treating indolent non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying two different schedules of rituximab and comparing them to see how well they work in treating patients with low tumor burden indolent stage III non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

I'm in the arm of the trial that gets 4 doses, one week apart, then scans every 6 months, and if the disease shows progression, 4 more doses one week apart. The other arm of the trial is "maintenance Rituxan" dose of one infusion every three months. There is at least one other board member on this same trial, but in the maintenance arm.

The clinical trial site says the study is not currently recruiting patients.

I'd be glad to talk with anyone who is interested in this trial.

Thanks Nancy!

Kathy

Joanne participated in two trials:

* CpG with Rituxan
* anti-cd22 antibody study (LL-22)

Neither study is open any longer. The goal of therapy was management with a relatively safe (rituxan/like therapy)

I started in a trial that used CVP. After only a few months it was decided that it wasn't working, my tumor burden was not being reduced, and they moved me along to FND (not a trial).

I don't want to discourage anyone from participating in a trial when I say it didn't work for me. Just want to let people know that you don't necessarily get "stuck" in a trial once they decide it's not in your best interest. You can see by my signature that I responded well to the next mode of treatment and am sittin' 'fat and sassy' as we speak !!

Good luck to everyone.
Annette

There's a good site where you can view trial results. Go to: www.centerwatch.com. You can select by drug name and disease type.

Adrienne has done three trials: SB-743921 (progressed on trial), ABT-263 (progressed on trial), and MGCD-0103 (good partial response but had to drop out due to hemorrhagic cystitis).

When we're looking at trials now, we always ask a few questions. 1) How many patients with Hodgkin's (or your disease) have been on this trial? 2) What were there results? How many partial responses? How many complete responses? What was the duration of response? 3) How many patients died on the trial? 4) What were all of the reported side effects?

We really think that the SB and ABT trials were a waste of time since they hadn't shown any responses in Hodgkin's. Since then, the SB drug has shown a few transient responses. MGCD was great for her disease, but really bad on the side effects side. The usual side effects (nausea, diarrhea, fatigue) were improving but the cystitis was definitely a show stopper.

I am currently in this trial: Epratuzumab and Rituximab in Treating Patients With Previously Untreated Follicular Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT00553501

So far so good. I have not yet completed the trial but am having a positive response.
