Default Acronyms

Hi all...

After reading a new member's post and Andy's answer to it, I realized we all use acronyms quite often. Those of us who are lucky (???) enough to have been around here for a while sort of take for granted that everyone knows what we mean, but thinking back to when I was new at all of this, I realized how confusing it can be for new people...so, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread explaining all of the acronyms we use regularly. Please feel free to add to this list. I'm sure I'll miss quite a few. Here goes:

Diseases:
ALL acute lymphocytic leukemia
CLL chronic lymphocytic leukemia
CML chronic myeloid leukemia
CNS central nervous system
DLCBL diffuse large B cell lymphoma
fNHL follicular non-Hodgkins lymphoma
HD Hodgkins lymphoma (4 subtypes)
NHL non-Hodgkins lymphoma (many subtypes)
MCL mantle cell lymphoma
SLL small lymphocytic lymphoma

Stages
Stage I NHL is present in one group of lymph nodes or in one body organ.
Stage II NHL is present (on one side of the diaphragm) in two or more groups of lymph nodes, or an organ and 1 or more group of lymph nodes.

Thanks Kathy!! This is a big help, adding to my favorites. I've been around awhile, but had forgotten some of the ones that aren't used often. Thanks for always looking out for us.

Thanks Kathy, these are helpful. One thing though, sll stands for small lymphocytic lymphoma, not leukemia.

Sue,

I could add it...it is one of the subtypes. Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere with all of the subtypes of NHL?
