Default Another Stolen Idea From The Hodge Side--Shiznit!!

I thought this post was very inspiring and decided to lift it and bring it over here to our side of the board...here's how it starts...

Quote:
Hola Community,

It occurs to me that one thing that is really lacking in the cancer chapter is that feeling that ones Rocks (i look great today; i wrote an amazing brief; my husband digs my legs; whatev), that thing that makes us feel like studs on a daily or once in a while basis.

So i thought we could reframe for the cancer chapter and list things that--by our current situation standards-- is hot shiznit. For example, i cleaned my own bathroom today! Or yesterday i took an oil painting lesson.

How about you guys: everyday heroism?

Here's a link to the post over there... "Shiznit" post

Now, because I'm a midwesterner, "shiznit" isn't a word that was in my vocabulary, so being the inquisitive person I am, I of course had to look it up. Here is what I found...

Quote:
Noun: shiznit
(slang) the best
"This bike is the shiznit baby"
- the sh**

and...

Quote:
1. shiznit

shortened term for "that is the sh**, isn't it ?"

"that taco's the shiznit!"

2. shiznit
Expresses extensive emotional satisfaction or glorification of any given noun. Often used by those who lack the vocabulary to express the true essence of the situation.

Shiznit can also be used interjectionally.

Generally "shiznit" can be seen as a last resort when all other means of expression fail.

Shiznit! That pie is the absolute and utter shiznit!

3. shiznit
adj. 1) the best; 2) the greatest, in a certain category or universally; 3) gaddam' phenomenal!

Master says, "I'm the shiznit! Hell'z yeah!"

4. shiznit
More "urbanized" form of the sh**. Basically means really, really good. Other versions include:hella cool, tight, the best.

Damn Tony! Your new ride is the shiznit! Lemme borrow it to drive by Mya's.

5. shiznit

The sh**, the best, awesome, sweet

Popeye's chicken is the shiznit

6. Shiznit

An amazing thing, the best.

This cake is the shiznit

7. Shiznit

When something is amazing, cool
(The second box is edited for content... )

How about it all of you? Can we come up with a list of why we are the "shiznit"? I know we can!

Cancer has a way of seeming to rob something from our lives...but it also has a way of making us look at things from a whole new perspective. In reading the thread over on the Hodgkins side, I couldn't help but notice that this way of thinking sheds new light on the little things that we take for granted every day. So, I invite you to add to this thread by saying to yourself, "I am the shiznit because....." Let's inspire each other to look at all of those wonderful little things that we used to take for granted.

For my part, I would like to say...

I am the shiznit because...I'm a damned good singer and I'm making a vow to myself to devote more time having fun with that, writing and recording again. And...so far I have only lost a few days to this damned disease, only for treatment days and onc appointments.

Who's next?

Kathy

Kathy,

This was one of my favorite threads over on the Hodge side. I'll put the same thing I put over there: In trying to get back into shape after chemo I've graduated from my 2 lb. weights to 3 lb. ones!!!

And a new one--all my grandkids were here all day and we played and I cooked them lunch and we walked to garage sales and played--and I'm not totally exhausted, just happy.

My prelim CT report today said I'm NED. I would hate to be my cancer right now. I guess, that makes me the shiznit? Or my sister is the shiznit and I'm just the battlefield. There's some technical grey area here. But I'll happily accept the shiznit credit on our behalf.

(This hipster lingo makes me feel old.)

OK guys, I have to add.....

I think Tom is the Shiznit because...

*He continues to work on the job at least 60 hour per week
*He plays golf at least 3 times per week.
*He has a killer smile for everyone.
*AND he takes the time to be my friend.

I know I may be showing favoritism, but for a guy battling cancer...I think he "ROCKS"

This is a great thread!

Today, I'm the shiznat because I got two articles written for my team's newsletter and I'm rewriting my friend's resume tonight so that he can finally move on to a better job.

Yay me!

Cliff,
If "the shiznet" is for young people, then everyone using it IS young at heart! Oh boy, I'm old! (never said it before) Congratulations on "round about" but lovely reasoning!
And Congratulations to ALL here for being "The Shiznet!"
(Spoken or unspoken )

Thanks AGAIN Kathy: a smile on my face again!
Love, burtiebee

OK, as someone who is trying to work hard on her self-esteem and self-image, this thread is a blessing. I'm hoping to see you guys on it every day!

Today I'm the shiznat because I got up, ran errands, got my car washed, finally posted my old computer on e-bay and laid out in the sun for the first time in almost two years!

And tonight I'm off to a cocktail party. All of this and no desire to take a nap. I'm actually starting to feel more and more like my old-self!
