Okay, I'll admit it...I stole this from the Hodgkins side of the board. But it looked like so much fun and I have wondered before about so many of your screen names...so here goes...please share what your screen name means!
I'll go first...when I first started "talking" to people on the 'net, I often visited a chat room called "Parenting and Education" on a site that I don't even think exists any more called Freeyellow. (I am a parent and was on the school board, and now work for a school district, hence my interest in those subjects.) I talked quite often with someone from Canada. At the end of our conversations, he started saying, "Say good night, Gracie", a la George Burns and Gracie Allen. "Gracie" stuck, and I use it on MSN messenger too. The numbers are my date of birth (yeah I'm old... )...so that's it. Not terribly interesting, but apparently unique enough that I didn't have any trouble registering here. How about your stories? I've always thought some of the names on here are really interesting! Kathy

In 2004 while I was going through RCHOP in the winter, I took an old '92 mountain bike that had an 8-speed drivetrain, stripped it and converted it to a singlespeed bike, which reminded me of the bikes I used to ride when I was a kid in the late 60s/early 70s. It signified freedom to me. A new means to explore the areas beyond my neighborhood in NY. So, this was a bike with one speed. I've since built several other 1speed bikes and even ride them in 100-mile century rides. You can't have more fun on a bike.

I like that thread too Kathy. I thought about stealing their idea for a thread telling our personal cancer stories as well.
The origin of my name is a little embarassing. I always have a hard time coming up with login names so a friend of mine suggested a name generator. I didn't even think of my own name.... When I saw pine soul it struck a chord with me. I grew up in the north woods and I do think it left me with a bit of a "pine soul"

Quite a while back I was on a message board where I had to register, even though I didn't plan to post much, if at all. I was thinking I was a looky-loo - then I remembered people who read but don't post are called lurkers so I came up with lurkyloo. I have had an e-mail address with "lurkyloo" in it for years that I used on websites where I didn't want my real name visable, and when I needed to change to a less "personalized" user name here, I decided on lurkyloo!

My real name is Debbie FitzPatrick. For 14 years I worked as an aide in a 2nd grade classroom. The kids always called me Mrs. Fixpatrick. So when I started on AOL, my screenname was Fixpatrick. Everyone thought I was a guy, so I changed it to Debbiefix. And that's the story..lol
