Default Sometimes it just sucks

I just got back from my oncs office to get the results of my CT scans I had last week. As expected, the news wasn't good. There's growth in my abdomen and along my spine as well as in my neck. So I'm started a modified version of MOPP on Thursday. He's putting me on Mechlorethamine (Nitrogen Mustard) on days 1 and 8 for a 21-day cycle as well as Procarbazine pills for days 1 through 14. He agreed to do the Pred only on the day of the infusion since the Pred is my big concern so we'll see how that goes. I've always used Phenegren for nausea and it works okay but just kind of takes the edge off, it doesn't make the nausea go away. So, he's given me Ativan (one of my personal favs) and Kytril which I've never taken. I could use some info on the Kytril if anybody has any.

So all of this starts on Thursday -- keep your fingers crossed for me.

Anne-Marie - i am so sorry to hear this news. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I really hate this disease and wish none of us had to go through any more stuff. You have had your share and I wish you success this time through........

Ativan is my favorite also. I used it and xanax (even though the two are not suppose to be together). I found Ativan helped me get to sleep.

Sorry about the bad CT results....No advice here, just know you are in my thoughts. I hope Mopp goes easy on you and gets rid of the hodge podge for good!

Feel better.

Hi Anne-Marie - Sorry to hear the news. I wish it were better for you.

For my very first ABVD I was given Kytril and I still had nausea. I cant really compare it to anything since I never had it again but I can tell you it was bad. My onc switched me to Regalin and I had no more nausea. I hope you have better luck with it than I did.

Thinking of you and hoping for your comfort.

Hugs.

AnneMarie,

I'm sorry to hear your scan report -- I was hoping your intuition was wrong. I had Kytril for my last 2 treatments -- it worked for me. The drug I had for the rest of them (Aloxi) gave me migraines, so they tried the Kytril. As always, there are SO many options for these meds -- I hope the first one works for you, though. Keep us posted as you feel up to it!

Hi Anne-Maire,
Yes, sometimes it just sucks ... escpecially today!
We also went to see an onc (a new one) and got our results ... don't know what to make of it - but it's not what we wanted. ( more info on http://rayandnat.blogspot.com/ ) After 6 cycles of chemo I felt like it got stable and we had our course charted ... and now it's all a haze!

Well, let's hope next Monday will be a better one - I am sceduled for a needle biopsy to see what the hell is going on.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with any of the drugs you are about to try - wish you an easy MOPP!

Natalia

Anne-Marie,

Sorry to hear about your scans. Kytril was the only thing that helped me. They gave me other anti-nausea pills, but Kytril was the best.

Anne Marie - I am so sad to hear about your results, but who knows, maybe this is the right chemo combination for you! I loved my Kytril - used it before, during and after my ABVD. Can't comment on it effectiveness with MOPP, but it kept the pukes at bay.

I'm gonna pm you to see if we can get our lunch in this week!

Well darnit Anne-Marie!! I was hoping that you'd hear something a little more encouraging.

I had Kytril during SCT, and didn't have much trouble with it at all. I would have to agree with you that Ativan is the best though!!

As always, keep us posted and you'll be in my thoughts.

Anne-Marie, you have long been my inspiration for LIVING with cancer. As much as I hate that that's what you have to do, you do it beautifully. I hope this next chapter will go easy on you and push the evil beast back where it belongs - GONE.

Hugs,

Mary
