Just curious. Does anyone else's hair hurt?
For me, it (thankfully) seems to only be head and facial hair. When I went through the cisplat/gemzar, it started hurting while I was at buzzcut length, right about at the same time it started falling out in droves. I shaved my head at that point and all was well. Now that I'm done with that and the ifos and Supercoop claimed that MOPP! was easy enough that my hair would grow back, I decided to not shave for awhile. Last night, I had to shave again so I could sleep. My hair feels like splinters poking into my skin, both on my face and head. It only started happening when the hair had grown out to... oh... let's say a quarter inch or so - about how long it was when this started on the cisplat/gemzar. Anyone else notice this happening to them, or is this just my own personal hodgepodge crazy thing?

I don't think this is the hodge podge. My beard feels exactly like that when it is exactly that length. You just have beard itch all over your head.
I prescribe dunking your head in a bucket of high quality hand cream.

That's weird, 'cause I've never felt the poking when I've let my facehair grow out this long or longer before. Guess I'll have to go find a snorkel.

I definitely remember having painful hair the last time my hair grew in! (thanks for reminding me - my hair is just starting to come in again) I have no helpful tips except to endure life as a porcupine until your hair gets soft again

Mine hurt like a SOB falling out...and it took almost 2 weeks for my thick curly hair to exit. Then it hurt again gowing in until it was about 1/2" long and laid over on its side. I don't know about face hair although I am growing extra face peach fuzz as my hair grows in.

I posted an answer to this on the post about MOPP but basically what worked for me was lots of conditioner. It makes the hair really limp so it doesn't feel like you're getting stuck with needles.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not or possibly am crazy, gang. And Anne-Marie, I think you may have hit the hair on the head. Since I shaved my head, I switched to plain ol' soap (skin's skin, right?) and had been doing the same thing even though I had hair coming in. I'll make the switch this time and see what happens. Thanks!

Nope... you're not alone. Each time my hair came out my head hurt SOOOO bad! Made me thankful when it was all finally out.

Thats how I knew it was going to fall out, it would feel like I had it up all day in a tight pony tail and just let it back down. It also felt that way the first week it started to grow back in. Luckly, once i was bald it didnt hurt anymore.

Wendy, that's a perfect description! That's exactly how mine felt, too -- a very tender, ouchy feeling.
Hey Brian, maybe you could have your wife give you a lovely head massage with conditioner; if it didn't hurt you, it might make you deliriously happy! Could go either way, I guess...worth a shot though!
